Happy Bonfire Night

Just a little thing to say have a good night :)
Just as a side note, I LOVEE fireworks. It's kind of an artist thing I guess. It's kinda like a light-up Jackson Pollock in the sky, in a way.
Anyway have a great day

Dreams Don't Turn To Dust (Gouache on Paper)

"Owl City UK video contest"
That was what caught my attention.
I was going to make a video.

I love how music and art is so closely intertwined.
They both express.
They both speak.
They're both in their many forms.
I wanted to use this as a concept for this video. It's my first proper video so the quality stinks but I'm quite happy with it.
I'm also kind of in love with the music of Adam Young so this was very fun :)
I hope you like it :D

Bible Studies #1

I was born in, raised by and am part of a family of dedicated Christians. My parents raised me to become one and one I am now and will always be. Now if you have the impression that this is going to be some "shove-down-your-throat" epidemic, then that is not the case. I was merely "setting the scene" for some little things that I want to show you.

My dad does some Tuesday night bible studies at my church. He often has little PowerPoint presentations to go with them each complete with their Scriptural references, timelines and silly animations. Dad wanted some better pictures to go with his presentations and he knew that I often did little piccys on my computer with my tablet. So, he would give me a little sketch with the kind of thing he wanted and he would get me to sketch, layer, select, transform, colour and filter until I ended up with a decent looking piece of work.

That, my friend, is what I am sharing :D

Casting lots

The first picture I'm sharing is not the first one I drew. I just kinda chose it randomly.
Hehe.
Anyway, it's when they cast lots for a new apostle around the time of the day of Pentecost.
I have to say, I'm quite pleased with how some of these turned out so stick around for more 'cos I don't think I'll be able to put them all on here now :P
I hope you like it.

Well..
Thanks
God bless :D

The Ugli Munkee

It all started a while ago when my brother bought a sock monkey kit from a little quirky shop. He bought it, but never actually made the sock monkey (typical Ben.) He left that to mum. Once she made it, she figured it would be a great thing to do for a craft evening (typical Mum.)

So the craft evening came along and I tagged along (typical me.) Once we were there we sat down with all the ladies and they all did their crafts. I decided to have a go at the sock monkey and mum showed me how to do it as I made it. Let's just say...
I FAILED.

Okay, it was fun. It was very fun. But I simply cannot hand sew. I can draw and play music and do simultaneous equations. But sewing? Nope.

In the end I came out with a creature with uneven arms, tiny ears, floppy limbs and a very crooked smile. I named him "Ugli Munkee."

"Ugs" for short.

Now there's not a lot to say about my little buddy except that he is indeed a freak of fabric nature. And he's ugly. In a cute way.

Now mum says that sewing takes practice and patience. Whilst I would like to get better, I have little time for practice and I sometimes (but not always) have about as much patience as a housefly with unusually high caffeine levels

In other words, I stink at sewing.

But long live Ugli Munkee!

February Air

Now, in case you haven't guessed (and I fail to see how) I have a huge (and I mean HUGE) love of music. I sing. I play instruments. I'm on my iPod. I'm thinking of a song or a musician. I am addicted to the resonating, echoing motion of sound. It combines culture. It expresses the things words fail to express. It provides a pathway for me to praise God I. Love. It.

Now, I can very rarely draw without my music on. Often I listen to a song and I think "DRAWING TIME!! :D" One example is this:

Inspired by the song "February Air" by Canadian synthpop artist LIGHTS.
The song as that misty and, well, AIRY feel to it. I wanted to take the longing for warmth and companionship displayed in the song and translate it into an image.

The song has a music video and my picture has pretty much no connection to it (well, they both have snow) but it's the music that counts.

I will be posting more "fan art" as time goes on.
I will also post some music I like.
I hope you like the picture and all musical credit goes to LIGHTS and whomever else it rightfully belongs. :)

Lachrymiform

So, I was looking around at some interesting words online. I found one website with a whole list of "interesting words" and so I saved some on a document incase I have a need for some inspiration. One word that I found was "Lachrymiform" (which is, according to Microsoft Word and spell-check on Safari, not a real word. But it is a word I'm sure.) The definition of the word is "tear shaped." This got me thinking and drawing and writing.
I know it's far from a Leonardo Da Vinci masterpiece and the poetry is nowhere near Shakespeare standard, but I'm a 14 year old with a laptop, a pen tablet and inspiration. This is what I do.
And so I present, "Lachrymiform"

Lachrymiform

Pain is sharp enough to cut through light

Tears are wet enough to stain the floor

I’m blessed enough to grow and thrive

But thunder I can’t ignore

People, they scream and cry and lament

Drowning out the symphonic chords

Crushing up the flowers until they are bent

‘Til it is lachrymiform

Remember life’s a gift and not a curse

For the old and young, rich and poor

Life is painful but we can endure

Until there’s finally more

Lest we forget the joy of seasons

The sun, the rain and so much more

So give us no pain bearing reasons

Or things, lachrymiform

My laughs and cries are confused so much

Do I relax or, rather, mourn?

I flinch at almost every single touch

Emotions fully torn

Optimism is what I struggle with

But the worldly view is so forlorn

I must look for the brighter gifts

Than curses, lachrymiform

What to say?

Well, this is rather interesting! My first blog post. Well, what can I say...

Inspiration comes from all sorts of places. For me, music is one of the greatest forms of inspiration as well as character and actions. I want to show what inspires me. Every little thing that fuels my creativity.

If your looking for a professional, airy-fairy artist and musician then you're in the wrong place. If your looking for someone who simply wants to create then you're in the right place.

It's very unlikely anybody will be reading this, but that doesn't matter.

For those who happen to be glancing at random blogs and happened to come across this one, I hope you enjoy these little creations from a simple teenager's blog.

That's it really.

Thank you,
Eliza :)
